Kansans have the opportunity to show support of the Kansas 4-H program in a new way by purchasing a 4-H distinctive license plate.
The clover tag design displaying the clover and 4-H motto was voted on by 4-H members across the state.
The license plate bill was signed by Kansas 4-H alumnus, Governor Sam Brownback in April 2017. Representative Ken Rahjes, another Kansas 4-H alumnus, introduced the bill in the Kansas House of Representatives. Following the signing of the bill, more than 500 individuals across the state signed a form in support of the license plate allowing the production of the plate to begin. They are now available to purchase in your county treasurer’s office.

All Kansas residents are welcome to purchase a 4-H license plate and show support of the largest youth development program in the state. The vehicle limit is 20,000 lbs. Motorcycle plates are not available at this time.
Visit your county treasurer’s office to purchase a 4-H license plate. The treasurer’s office will collect an annual tax-deductible gift of $50 to the Kansas 4-H Foundation. There will be an annual $5 processing fee to the state and a one-time production charge of around $50, plus your annual tags and taxes*. All of these fees may be paid together in one transaction made payable to your treasurer's office.
*These costs are subject to change pending state and county tax fluctuations.
You may purchase a plate through your county treasurer’s office at any time during the year. If you choose to purchase your license plate at a time other than your annual tag renewal period, you will be required to make a second contribution during your renewal period.
Your tax deductible contribution to Kansas 4-H empowers young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. Part of your contribution remains in the county you registered in to benefit your local 4-H program and the other portion supports state-wide initiatives impacting over 75,000 youth.
$10 – Local 4-H program in the county where the license plate is purchased
$30 – Kansas 4-H program for marketing and growth initiatives
$10 – Kansas 4-H Foundation to defray administrative costs associated with the program
Plate numbers are produced consecutively and issued randomly. The state of Kansas does not allow personalization of distinctive license plates and does not honor requests for specific plate numbers.
